Steve Sturim - Owner
Steve Sturim was introduced to the antique automobile hobby at the age of 6 by his father, and it has remained a lifelong passion. A 1989 graduate of Rogers High School in Wyoming, Michigan, Steve has devoted decades to the preservation, restoration, and judging of classic automobiles.
He has served a PTO President at his son's school; President of the Grand A's, a chapter of the Model A Restorer's Club; and President of the West Michigan Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He is also a Senior Judge with the Model A Restorer's Club and a member of the Relix Car Club.
Steve's award-winning restorations include a MARC of Excellence with a 1929 Fordor Town Sedan and a MARC of Originality with a 1929 Business Coupe, both from the Model A Restorer's Club. His 1932 Dreyer Sprint Car earned a Repeat Senior Grand National Award, a Past President Award, and Second in Class honors at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. He also received a Class Award at the EyesOn Design Concours d'Elegance with a 37471946 Sprint Car.
Active in the community, Steve gives presentations at local schools and mentors young people both inside and outside the shop. One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is seeing customers become lifelong friends.
Rick Sturim 1942-2024
Rick Sturim was a natural gearhead whose passion for mechanics and engineering defined his life and career. In 1992, he and his son, Steve, opened the shop, combining their shared dedication to craftmanship and antique automobiles.
Rick graduated from Fair Lawn High School in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, in 1960 and earned his engineering degree in 1964 from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) in Newark, New Jersey. He served in the United States Air Force as a Flightside Aircraft Maintenance Officer, achieving the rank of Captain.
Following his military service, Rick built a distinguished career in engineering, as well as machine and facility maintenance across multiple industries. He was also an accomplished amateur gunsmith and a respected leader in the antique automobile community. Rick served as National President of the Model A Restorers Club and was a seven-time President of the Grand A's Chapter.
Dedicated to serving fellow veterans, Rick also served as Post Commander of his American Legion Post and as District
Sergeant-At-Arms within the American Legion.
Rick's legacy of integrity, precision, leadership, and mentorship continues to shape the standards and values at the shop today.

Shop History and Provenance
Steve's Antique Auto Repair is an automotive repair shop located at 590 Ottawa St in Muskegon, Michigan specializing in repairing and restoring classic cars, particularly those manufactured before 1972, as well as vintage Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles. We offer repair and restoration services such as engine repair, body shop work, and paint jobs, as well as general maintenance, including tires, oil changes, and tune-ups.
Our new shop is built into an old Harley-Davidson dealership, so it comes with a lot of history and provenance. It was first built in 1919 by Dan Raymond who opened the Raymond Motor & Cycle Co. He then founded the Muskegon Motorcycle Club in this building in 1920. Both the club and hillclimb are still going strong today.
Jim Snell then brought the first licensed Harley-Davidson dealership to Muskegon in 1958 and ran it out of this building until the very large addition was added in the early 90's. We are in the process of restoring the original dealership and making it our home, while the larger shop will greatly improve our engine rebuilding/machine shop capabilities, and the large showroom showcases lots of eye candy and also has a retail store.
